Job summary

Kustom is seeking a Lead Contents Technician in Michigan Center, MI to clean and process contents damaged by disasters, manage inventory, and perform restoration tasks. You will handle packing, transport, and detailed log keeping while supporting project managers and superintendents.

Responsibilities include estimating assistance, following procedures, and maintaining safety on site. Ability to lift 50 lbs and work 8+ hours in a demanding environment is expected.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year working in cleaning or general labor.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior emergency restoration, water damage, warehouse or moving company experience is highly desired.

  • Pack and unpack clients' property securely and carefully.

  • Photograph and maintain inventory of restorable and non-restorable items.

Description
Position Overview

The Lead Contents Technician is responsible for cleaning residential and commercial properties that were damaged by water, fire, wind, mold or other disasters. Responsibilities include cleaning and processing, pack out, storage, and detailed inventory/ itemization of affected contents, as well as, restorative structural drying, cleaning, and deodorization.

Responsibilities

The Lead Contents Technician performs the following duties along with any additional duties as assigned by management per business needs:

  • Assists with estimating in Xactimate and Symbility.
  • Follow Keeps photo and descriptive log in iCat softwareestablished procedures for cleaning structures/contents and handling customer's possessions.
  • Pack and unpack clients' property in a secure manner, with care to not damage property or structure.
  • Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, washing walls and glass, and removing debris.
  • Thoroughly clean smoke residue from contents and structures.
  • Provide post construction cleaning to prepare properties for occupancy.
  • Photograph and maintain a thorough inventory of all clients restorable and non-restorable items.
  • Transport content items from job site to storage/cleaning facility per direction of Contents Manager.
  • Perform assigned work in a timely manner and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain clean, organized work areas and securely store equipment and supplies while not in use.
  • Interface with customers and relay information to Contents Manager, Project Managers and Superintendents when appropriate.
  • Monitor the safety, security, efficiency, and appearance of the company vehicle and jobsites.
  • Participate in an on-call schedule for after-hours service calls.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 1 year working in cleaning or general labor position.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Prior emergency restoration, water damage, warehouse or moving company experience is highly desired.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Eligible to operate a vehicle per company policy.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
  • Must be able to perform a labor-intensive role, including bending, walking, pulling, pushing, standing and lifting for 8+ hours; occasionally climb ladders, and work in extreme hot, cold and humid conditions.
  • Must be able to drive up to a 100-mile radius from office to clients' office and company facilities.
  • Must be able to work in and on overhead structures.
  • Participate in occasional overnight travel, weekend and/or evening work.
Environmental Conditions
  • Exposure to outdoor conditions, including inclement weather.
  • Ability to work in a construction environment.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high; ear protection worn as needed.
