Importance of the Repair Technician Role

When surgical instruments are properly sharpened and functioning, surgeons can focus on providing the best care for their patients. STERIS offers various repair solutions including onsite mobile repair services, in-house repair labs, and five national repair centers.

Position Details

This is a remote, customer-facing role. Candidates must be based in Florida to support and service our customers within this territory.

Responsibilities
  1. Perform basic to intermediate inspection and repairs on surgical instruments using various tools and techniques. Strong manual dexterity, attention to detail, and willingness to learn are essential.
  2. Work in the field on a mobile repair truck, in a repair lab, or inside a hospital, depending on customer needs within the assigned territory. Ability to sit/stand for extended periods and work in small mobile spaces is required.
  3. Travel frequently within the hospital environment, with weather conditions varying.
  4. Support various locations within the territory based on service agreements, customer needs, and staffing.
Qualifications and Skills
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least 2 years of work experience, including a minimum of 1 year relevant experience, or 1 year at STERIS. All experience must be verifiable.
  • Ability to pass DOT medical/physical exams and comply with DOT regulations.
  • Must be at least 21 years old, possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable record, and maintain required vaccinations.
  • Ability to operate DOT-regulated vehicles and conduct safety checks.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and push carts ranging from 10-150 lbs.
  • Compliance with hospital and customer credentialing requirements.
Relevant Work Experience

Experience with repair, assembly, or testing using small hand tools is advantageous. Examples include electronics repair, carpentry, circuit board assembly, sterile processing, and automotive repair.
