Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED and willingness to learn aerospace repair and overhaul processes.
  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions, manuals, procedures, and FAA regulations.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic documentation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair, modify, and test aircraft components per FAA regulations and customer specs.
  • Inspect incoming assemblies and perform evaluation, disassembly, repair, reassembly, and testing.
  • Utilize precision tools and test equipment to support repair and overhaul activities.
  • Ensure repairs meet FAA, quality, safety, and airworthiness requirements.
  • Identify nonconforming conditions and report findings to engineering and quality teams.
  • Support FAA inspections, internal audits, and regulatory requirements as needed.
  • Collaborate with inspectors, engineers, and technicians to resolve issues and meet delivery times.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, 5S-aligned work environment and participate in training.

Job description

At Simmonds Precision Products, Inc., we design, manufacture, and support precision aerospace components and systems serving commercial and military aviation customers worldwide. A Repair Station Technician Preforms various levels of repair, rework, overhaul and related operations on aircraft equipment returned from the field.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, repair, modify, and test aircraft components in accordance with FAA regulations, Repair Station Manual requirements, approved technical data, and customer specifications.
  • Conducts inspection of incoming assemblies/components in accordance with established procedures and technical data.
  • Responsible for performing complete operation evaluation, disassembly, repairs, reassembly, test, diagnoses, and correction of problems.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments, hand tools, specialized fixtures, and test equipment to support repair and overhaul activities.
  • Ensure all repairs and testing meet established FAA, quality, safety, and airworthiness requirements.
  • Identify, document, and report unserviceable, unsafe, or nonconforming conditions.
  • Support internal audits, customer audits, FAA inspections, and regulatory requirements as needed.
  • Collaborate with inspectors, engineers, supervisors, and other technicians to resolve technical issues and meet production and customer delivery requirements and turnaround times
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with 5S and continuous improvement practices.
  • Participate in technical training and maintain required certifications, qualifications, and repair station authorizations.
  • Identify trends, recurring failures, and unusual component conditions and communicate findings to engineering, quality, and supervisory personnel.
  • Assist lead Technicians with troubleshooting, and diagnosis.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn aerospace repair and overhaul processes.
  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions, manuals, repair station procedures, and FAA regulations
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with electronic documentation systems.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in a fast-paced production and repair environment.
  • Ability to pass and maintain internal and FAA training requirements.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced production and repair environment while maintaining accuracy and documentation requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working in a FAA Part 145 Repair Station environment.
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, insulation resistance testers, hipot testers, specialized test equipment, and electrical test fixtures.
  • Technical school, vocational training, military technical training, or coursework in aviation maintenance, electronics, electrical systems, avionics, or a related field.

This position operates in an FAA-regulated repair station environment and may involve exposure to loud noise, moving machinery, chemicals, and aircraft fluids. Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required. The position may require standing, lifting, bending, and repetitive motion throughout the shift.

This position is considered safety sensitive in accordance with FAA Guidelines. Candidate will be subject to drug and alcohol testing per FAA’s regulation 14 CFR part 120, as well as 49 CFR part 40.
