Job summary

Safelite Group, Inc. is hiring a Repair Specialist in Indianapolis to learn to repair vehicle glass, handling chips and cracks on customer vehicles. You will manage work orders and communicate with customers using Safelite’s MRM system, with paid training and a strong emphasis on safety and professionalism.

You will operate a company vehicle, work outdoors in varying weather, and participate in our benefits and tuition programs. This role requires a High School diploma and a valid license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED/Equivalent required.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license required.
• On-the-job Safelite SafeTech certification required.
• Ability to operate a Safelite van safely and maintain a clean driving record.
• Flexibility with hours and days trained/worked.
• Comfort working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Present a professional appearance and wear PPE.
• Physical ability: lift/carry up to 25 lbs, assist with heavier windshields 26–50 lbs, use hand/power tools, work at heights.

Responsibilities

• Learn to repair vehicle glass in classroom and hands-on under Safelite guidance.
• Repair chips, cracks and other auto glass issues on customer vehicles.
• Manage work orders, documentation and customer communication via the Safelite MRM technology.
• Clean customer vehicles during wait times and perform housekeeping tasks in the shop/vehicle.
• Safely operate a Safelite fleet vehicle to and from customer locations.
• All other duties as assigned.

The Repair Specialist, which we hire year-round and seasonally, performs vehicle glass repairs whenever a glass replacement is not required. Our paid, formal training program teaches everything needed to complete these specialized repairs, regardless of any prior mechanical experience.

What You’ll Do

• Learn to repair vehicle glass (in the classroom and hands on) with a focus on the Safelite Way of Fitting under the guidance of experienced technicians and Safelite leaders.
• Repair chips, cracks and other auto glass related issues on customer vehicles.
• Manage work orders, customer documentation and customer communication through the Safelite handheld Mobile Resource Management (MRM) technology.
• Clean customer vehicle during wait/idle time during the repair process as well as perform additional housekeeping tasks in company vehicle and shop.
• Safely and professionally operate a company fleet vehicle to and from customer locations.
• All other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need

• High School Diploma/GED/Equivalent required.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license required.
• On-the-job training/completion of Safelite SafeTech™ certification.
• The ability to operate a Safelite van, following all safety, cleanliness policies, traffic laws, and maintain a safe driving record.
• Flexibility with hours and days trained/worked, as workloads fluctuate.
• Comfort working outside in a variety of weather conditions.
• Present a professional appearance and wear personal protective equipment.
• Physical requirements: lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. for short periods, assist an associate with lifting windshields weighing 26 lbs. to 50 lbs., safely operate various equipment including hand and power tools, working at elevated heights, remaining on your feet for extended periods.
