Job summary

Pratt & Whitney EHRO East Hartford Repair Operations seeks an experienced Repair Process Engineer to join our Engineering team. This fast-paced role requires project management and hands-on shop-floor support, interacting with operators and managers.

You will develop processes to improve quality, throughput, and integrate new machines, with emphasis on process validation, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Engineering or equal with 3+ years in Engineering, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Military, Aftermarket or Aviation.
  • Strong analytical and engineering problem-solving skills; ability to break down complex issues.
  • Comfortable working on the shop floor with equipment and stakeholders.

What You Will Do

Pratt & Whitney’s repair station (EHRO – East Hartford Repair Operations) is seeking for an experienced Repair Process Engineer to join our Engineering team. This is a fast-paced technical position requiring project management and technical skills to complete long-term projects along with everyday shop floor support. The person in this role will interact frequently with shop-floor workers and other employees at various levels of management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support day-to-day manufacturing operations, troubleshooting process issues as they come up.
  • Develop, refine, and document processes to improve quality, repeatability, and throughput.
  • Work closely with inspectors, operators, quality engineers, and other cross-functional partners to identify bottlenecks and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collect and analyze data to understand trends and recommend changes.
  • Participate in root-cause investigations and help implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support new product introductions and process changes, ensuring smooth integration into production.
  • Support industrialization and qualification of new machines and technologies, including equipment commissioning, process validation, and capability studies.
You Must Have
  • Advanced Degree and 3+ years of experience in Engineering, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Military, Aftermarket or Aviation industry; OR Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant industry experience; OR Associate's degree and 7+ years of relevant industry experience. OR 9+ years of hands‑on relevant experience in a manufacturing environment. 2+ years’ experience within a manufacturing environment is required
  • Strong analytical and engineering problem‑solving skills with the ability to break down complex process and equipment issues.
  • Comfortable working on the shop floor, engaging directly with equipment, operators, and technical stakeholders.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • University degree ideally in Engineering.
  • Mechanical or Quality Engineering preferred
  • Familiarity of aerospace gas turbine engines, engine overhaul and part repair processes
  • Knowledge of FAA Part 145, EASA, AS9110, and other relevant regulatory frameworks
  • Previous industry experience with one or more of the following special processes: Brazing/Heat Treating, Peening, Waterjet, or Thermal Spray.
  • Proactive, organized, and able to lead cross-functional teams and manage quality clinics or other projects effectively
  • Root Cause and Corrective Action experience (QCPC, RCCA Red‑X, Fault Tree, etc.)
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles, continuous improvement methodologies (CORE/ACE/SixSigma, etc.), and basic statistical tools
  • Working knowledge of Pratt & Whitney shop practices && processes, quality standards, and inspections methods && tools
  • Proficiency in MS Office, SAP ERP, Solumina MES, NX, AutoCAD, and Teamcenter is preferred
  • Comfortable working on the shop floor and collaborating with a wide range of people.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to break down complex issues.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays.
