Job summary

Woodward Inc. is seeking a Repair & Overhaul Technician I at our Loves Park, IL campus. The role is on 1st shift (Mon-Fri, 6:00am – 3:30pm) with initial training hours 7:00am - 3:30pm for two weeks.

Responsibilities include teardown, assembly, testing, and cross-functional coordination to ensure product quality and readiness for production. Level II duties follow with enhanced responsibilities and training opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Teardown, assembly and test product following documented procedures.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to define work scope and analyze products.
  • Conduct inspections/tests, record data and ensure adherence to standards.
  • Maintain clean, organized workstations and comply with safety protocols.

  • Level I: Estimated hourly base pay: $24.00
  • Level II: Estimated hourly base pay: $25.00 - $28.00

Woodwards is looking to bring on skilled, motivated and driven individuals to join our team as a Repair & Overhaul Technicians. These positions are on 1st shift (Mon-Fri, 6:00am – 3:30pm) and are located at our Loves Park Campus, where innovation, precision, and quality are at the heart of everything we do. This role will provide support and operations in products such as servo valves, actuators, fuel metering units, specialty valves or pumps. Training shift will be on 1st shift, Mon-Fri, 7am - 3:30pm, for the first 2 weeks.

Week 3 training shift could be on 1st or 2nd. Interested candidates must be flexible for upwards of 3 months to be able to train on an alternative training schedule.

Repair & Overhaul Technician I
Key Responsibilities:

· Teardown, Assembly and Test Product: Follows documented procedures to accurately and efficiently teardown, assemble and test product using specified tools and equipment.

· Process: Coordinates with appropriate members and cross-functional teams to perform analysis, investigation, work scope of product.

· Quality: Conducts inspections and tests to verify the accuracy and functionality of products and records and maintains data per operating standards.

· Organization & Cleanliness: Adheres to 5S principles by keeping workstations clean, organized, and free of unnecessary items. Follows established guidelines to ensure tools, materials, and equipment are properly stored and maintained.

· Safety Mindset: Adheres to all established safety protocols, procedures, and regulatory requirements; maintains mindfulness of self and surrounding work area to promote a safe working environment.

Key Skills:

· Technical Capability: Understands and follows basic technical instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Evaluates product and determines component replacement needs for low-complexity product.

· Critical Thinking: Identifies gap-to-standard and resolves or escalates them per standard processes/procedures.

· Mechanical Aptitude: Demonstrates basic understanding of mechanical systems and components. Can tear down, assemble and test products. Uses hand tools and basic equipment safely and effectively. Completes basic changeovers and setups.

· Team Communication: Communicates effectively with team members and supervisors to support workflow and elevate immediate issues. Adherence to Woodward's Core Values.

· Time Management: Effectively manages time to complete assigned tasks within established schedules. Adheres to individual schedule.

· Lean Mindset: Follows lean practices such as 5S and waste reduction. Participates in continuous improvement activities.

  • Process: Coordinates with appropriate members and cross-functional teams to perform analysis, investigation, work scope of product. Supports training of other members.
  • Quality Control: Participates to improve clarity and accuracy in documented processes and procedures.
  • Organization & Cleanliness: Proactively applies 5S principles, identifies opportunities to improve workstation organization and cleanliness, and ensures compliance with team standards. Assists in implementing new organizational practices as directed.
  • Safety Mindset: Encourages adherence to safety protocols within the team.
Key Skills:
  • Technical Capability: Understands and follows technical instructions and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Troubleshoots routine technical product issues. Evaluates product and determines component replacement needs for complex products.

Additional Requirements:

Moderate physical activity requires agility and dexterity, including walking, standing, or bending; and lifting or moving objects. Work is performed in an area with moderate risk or discomfort that may require special safety precautions, such as wearing protective clothing or gear. May be required to pass Near Vision and/or Color Vision examinations.
