Job summary

RTX is seeking an Engineering professional to develop repairs for military engines at the Tinker AFB site. You will own multiple projects, coordinate testing and approvals, and liaise with internal IPTs and customers to meet timetables and quality standards.

Expect to mentor junior engineers, drive process improvements, and ensure the repairs comply with OEM specifications while traveling up to 10% as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of Gas Turbine components, operation, design, and maintenance.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% as required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop repairs for military engines, including repair concepts and approvals.
  • Own several concurrent projects, organize testing, and support shop-floor requests.
  • Coordinate with end users and IPTs to discuss technical requirements and priorities.
  • Lead and mentor less experienced engineers and participate in audits of repair vendors.
  • Ensure repairs meet OEM quality standards and return non-conforming parts to service.

What You Will Do:
  • The RDE is responsible for the development of repairs for military engines.
  • This includes development of the repair concept, writing of the repair, obtaining approvals, and coordination with the end user.
  • The ideal candidate would be expected to take ownership of several concurrently running projects that may include duties such as organizing testing activities, supporting shop floor active production requests, coordinating approvals and technical discussions as well as liaising with internal and external Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
  • Other responsibilities will include leveraging experience to assist newer engineers, as well as coaching and mentoring.
  • Participate in a multi-discipline team to establish repair design requirements and ensure repairs are safe, durable, and meet the quality requirements of the OEM parts.
  • Research operating environments and functionality of components, their interactions with mating parts, and develop strategies which will return non-conforming parts back to service.
  • Create technical documents that provide engineering requirements for repairs.
  • Interface with the technical and program management to secure priorities and understand programmatic issues.
  • Support the Customer in the resolution of field supportability issues.
  • Ensure repair tasks and shop floor requests are completed to schedule and on budget.
  • Assist less experienced engineers with their tasks, providing guidance and mentorship.
  • Represent ASE at various forums with internal and external customers.
  • Identify and mitigate risks and roadblocks and assist in process improvements.
  • Assist and Lead audits of repair vendors to confirm repair methods meet quality standards.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
  • Knowledge of Gas Turbine components, operation, design, and maintenance.
  • 10% travel
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience with manufacturing processes such as machining, plating, plasma spray, welding, or brazing.
  • Direct experience with F135 or F119 Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO).
  • Familiarity with Pratt and Whitney repair technical data.
