Job summary

Veralto seeks a Rental Technician in Houston, TX, to install, calibrate, and troubleshoot environmental monitoring and gas detection instruments. You will support field deployments, prepare rental orders, and ensure safety and quality throughout the service lifecycle.

The role requires a technical background, good driving record, and a customer-focused mindset to collaborate with sales and operations while upholding Veralto’s safety standards and quality benchmarks.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or technical certification in electronics, instrumentation, or related field preferred.
  • Military technical training may substitute for formal education.
  • 1+ years of experience in instrumentation, calibration, or technical service preferred.
  • Experience with environmental monitoring, construction services, or industrial gas detection instruments is highly desirable.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Customer-focused attitude with a commitment to high service standards.

Responsibilities

  • Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot a variety of environmental and gas detection instruments, in-house.
  • Perform routine inspections and diagnostics on rental fleet equipment to ensure peak performance and safety standards.
  • Prepare instruments for rental orders, including functional checks and performance verification.
  • Assist with field service deployments, customer training, and onsite technical support.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation for maintenance, repairs, and calibrations.
  • Collaborate with sales and operations teams to meet customer needs and urgent requests.
  • Support internal quality control and ensure equipment meets benchmarks.
  • Participate in ongoing training for new technologies and instrumentation.
  • Uphold company safety standards during all service procedures, both in shop and on-site.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Rental Technician is responsible for maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, and deploying environmental monitoring and industrial safety instrumentation. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, a proactive mindset, and a commitment to excellence in customer service and technical support. Provides technical expertise to sales representatives, resellers and customers during the sales process. Responsible for the development and use of a set of software tools to improve the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of Quotations, Orders and Order Changes.

This position is part of the Technical Sales Support Department located in Houston, TX and will be on-site.

In this role, a typical day will look like:
  • Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot a variety of environmental and gas detection instruments, in-house.

  • Perform routine inspections and diagnostics on rental fleet equipment to ensure peak performance and compliance with manufacturer and safety standards.

  • Prepare instruments for rental orders, including functional checks, firmware updates, cleanliness and performance verification.

  • Assist with field service deployments, customer training, and onsite technical support.

  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation for equipment maintenance, repairs, and calibrations.

  • Collaborate with sales and operations teams to meet customer needs and respond to urgent requests.

  • Support internal quality control processes and ensure that all outgoing equipment meets Ajax and In‑Situ quality benchmarks.

  • Participate in ongoing training and development for new technologies and instrumentation.

  • Uphold company safety standards during all service procedures, both in the shop and on‑site.

The essential requirements of the job include:
  • Associate’s degree or technical certification in electronics, instrumentation, or related field preferred.

  • Military technical training (e.g., avionics, electrical systems) may substitute for formal education.

  • 1+ years of experience in instrumentation, calibration, or technical service preferred

  • Experience with environmental monitoring, construction services, or industrial gas detection instruments is highly desirable.

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.

The compensation range for this role is $23 - $25 USD per hour. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
