Performs advanced, multifaceted accounting functions in areas such as ledger maintenance, analysis, cost and financial analysis, fund reconciliation, posting, and inventory control. Analyzes complex financial and operational data and prepares management reports, financial statements, and projections.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepares consolidated internal and external financial statements by gathering and analyzing information from the general ledger system and departments.
  • Maintains and balances an automated consolidation system by inputting data, scheduling jobs, and verifying data.
  • Develops spreadsheet reports to analyze information and verify data.
  • Prepares general ledger entries by maintaining records and reconciling accounts.
  • Prepares payments by accruing expenses, assigning account numbers, requesting disbursements, and reconciling accounts.
  • Develops and recommends improvements to accounting procedures by analyzing current processes.
  • Responds to accounting and financial inquiries by researching and interpreting data.
  • Supports mergers and acquisitions by reviewing financial data, converting data to the general ledger system, and gathering supplementary information for financial statements.
  • Maintains confidentiality to protect the organization's value.
  • Enhances job knowledge through educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.
  • Completes assigned tasks to support the organization’s mission.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent education and experience with Financial Accounting Standards.
  • 1-3 years of experience in the accounting field.
  • At least 1 year of automated general ledger accounting experience.
  • At least 1 year of practical experience with spreadsheet applications.
  • Ability to compile data for reporting.
  • Ability to complete tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in word processing, accounting, and spreadsheet software.
