Job summary

Warren Equipment Company seeks a Rental Technician II for a rotating schedule, traveling to job sites for 14 days at a time. You will repair Caterpillar equipment, document work, and ensure safety and quality in every task.

Required are CAT knowledge, engine diagnostics, and the ability to quote work accurately. A CDL must be obtained within 90 days, with 21+ years and a clean driving record preferred.

Qualifications

• CAT product and service knowledge including engines and electrical systems.
• Basic knowledge of gas/diesel engines and EPG systems.
• Proficient with hand tools, diagnostic software, and basic measurement instruments.
• Ability to provide accurate quotes and complete required paperwork.
• Clean driving record and CDL within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality repairs per ERLG and safety standards.
• Travel to customer locations for 14-day on/off assignments and lodge at work sites.
• Disassemble/assemble components, test repairs, and verify operation.
• Maintain documentation: work orders, parts, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW.
• Mentor rental team members and support field operations.

The Rental Technician II (R) is designated as a “Rotational” position that usually works a designated rotating schedule, usually in patterns such as 14 days “on,” and 7 days “off” work. The person must travel to and lodge at the assigned work location for the duration of the 14-day work assignment. This position is responsible for providing high quality repair service on equipment, in order to respond to customer needs in a positive, caring and timely manner and to ensure maximum value for work performed.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Complete assigned jobs and tasks within Caterpillar Equipment Repair Labor Guidelines (ERLG) without sacrificing quality and/or safety.
• Work safely and follow all WCAT safety policies and procedures.
• Complete related paperwork and access databases required to complete job (work order, parts order, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW) accurately and timely.
• Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
• Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, clean and inspect assemblies with minimal supervision.
• Understand and apply Cat reusability guidelines.
• Submit parts and core returns in a timely manner with appropriate documentation.
• Perform warranty downloads of ECM.
• Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
• Apply general failure analysis and procedures to determine proper diagnosis.
• Complete all Level I & Level II assigned training in a timely and proficient manner.
• Able to mentor Rental team members.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

• Specific CAT product line knowledge of natural gas engines, electrical, electronic, mechanical systems and components to include Preventative Maintenance Services.
• Position requires basic knowledge of gas/diesel engines and EPG systems and troubleshooting.
• Proficient use of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, lap tops, diagnostic software and cranes and rigging equipment.
• This position requires the ability to provide accurate quotes.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• 2-5 years of related experience
• (Preferred) Associate’s degree/certificate in diesel technology, or similar mechanical discipline.
• Clean driving record and ability to obtain CDL within 90 days of hire for field assignment.
• Must be at least 21 to be assigned and operate field vehicle.
• Successfully complete Work Steps assessment.
• Will be certified prior to operating a forklift and/or man lift.
