Job summary

Warren CAT is seeking a skilled field technician in Midland, TX to perform maintenance and repairs on Caterpillar engines and related systems. The role emphasizes safe, precise troubleshooting and adherence to ERLG guidelines, with responsibilities covering diagnostics, parts handling, and customer-focused service.

You will work with gas and diesel engines, electrical and mechanical systems, and use diagnostic software and cranes for repairs.

Qualifications

• CAT product line knowledge of natural gas engines, electrical, electronic, mechanical systems and components.
• Basic knowledge of gas/diesel engines and EPG systems and troubleshooting.
• Proficient use of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptops, diagnostic software and cranes and rigging equipment.
• This position requires the ability to provide accurate quotes.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 2–5 years of related experience.
• Must be certified prior to operating a forklift and/or man lift.

Responsibilities

• Complete assigned jobs and tasks within ERLG guidelines without sacrificing quality or safety.
• Work safely and follow WCAT safety policies and procedures.
• Complete related paperwork and access required databases accurately and timely.
• Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
• Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, clean and inspect assemblies with minimal supervision.
• Understand and apply Cat reusability guidelines.
• Submit parts and core returns with proper documentation.
• Perform warranty downloads of ECM.
• Test and verify correct operation of repairs and adjustments.
• Apply general failure analysis to determine proper diagnosis.
• Complete Level I & Level II training promptly.
• Able to mentor Rental team members.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Complete assigned jobs and tasks within Caterpillar Equipment Repair Labor Guidelines (ERLG) without sacrificing quality and/or safety.
• Work safely and follow all WCAT safety policies and procedures.
• Complete related paperwork and access databases required to complete job (work order, parts order, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, STW) accurately and timely.
• Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
• Remove and install parts, disassemble and assemble components, clean and inspect assemblies with minimal supervision.
• Understand and apply Cat reusability guidelines.
• Submit parts and core returns in a timely manner with appropriate documentation.
• Perform warranty downloads of ECM.
• Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
• Apply general failure analysis and procedures to determine proper diagnosis
• Complete all Level I & Level II assigned training in a timely and proficient manner
• Able to mentor Rental team members.

• This position requires the ability to provide accurate quotes.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• 2-5 years of related experience
• Successfully complete Work Steps assessment.
• Will be certified prior to operating a forklift and/or man lift.
