THE OPPORTUNITY
Position: Rental Field Preventative Maintenance Technician at our Lake Charles, Louisiana location.
SALARY POTENTIAL
Annual range of $60,000 – $72,000. The range reflects hourly rate including typical overtime and is based on experience, skills, education, and training. Overtime is typically calculated daily after 8 hours worked.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform preventive maintenance on all components of heavy equipment, including diesel engines, power trains, hydraulics, fuel systems, power generation, and electrical systems.
- Inspections and general preventive maintenance on heavy and light construction rental equipment.
- Use a company‑provided truck equipped with lube extraction and retraction necessities.
- Promote positive customer service for Louisiana Cat Rental Stores in accordance with Caterpillar and Louisiana Cat expectations.
- Use the tools and building blocks provided to grow a career at Louisiana Cat.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and clean motor vehicle history.
- Prior technical training in heavy machinery/equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
- Attention to detail and a safety‑first mentality.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ownership of required tool inventory (Louisiana Cat’s tooling program specific to interview).
- Strong customer service skills and professional demeanor.
SHIFT & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Schedule: Monday‑Friday, full‑time; may require hours outside standard schedule.
- Requires physical movement, lifting, squatting, bending, climbing, and working with rotating parts in Louisiana climate.
- Exposure to weather extremes, noise, chemicals, dust, steam, high‑pressure water, and high‑speed rotating equipment; wearing protective gear required.
- May need to travel overnight.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Stand for extended periods, use hands to handle and feel, lift up to 75 pounds, reach arms within full range, endure stooping, kneeling, crouching, squatting, push/pull with tools, clutch equipment, operate vehicle up to 26,000 lbs.
