Job summary

Western States Equipment is seeking a Rental Equipment Technician to support the rental fleet with preparation, inspection, and care to meet client needs. Responsibilities include checking equipment in/out, yard movement, washing, detailing, and maintaining availability.

The role emphasizes diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing engines, undercarriage, powertrain, and hydraulic/electrical systems while ensuring safety and reliability for customers.

Qualifications

• Proof of high school diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year of practical industry experience preferred (rental fleet, mobile, and allied equipment).
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record; ability to obtain a DOT Medical Card as needed.
• Ability to communicate in English (speak, read, comprehend, write).
• Must have appropriate technician level tooling.

Responsibilities

Full Summary

Western States Cat is looking for a Rental Equipment Technician to add to our dynamic, successful Rental team, specializing in customer care. The Rental Equipment Technician is responsible for preparing the rental fleet according to Western States’ standards in order to meet or exceed the client’s needs. Additionally, checking equipment in and out of inventory, loading and unloading rental fleet moving and organising equipment throughout the yard, washing, detailing, and maintaining rental fleet in an effort to maintain optimum availability.

Skills, Knowledge, And Abilities

• Ability to obtain job related certifications for any specialty equipment including but not limited to forklifts, rigging, and overhead cranes..
• Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills, planning, organising with ability to set and manage priorities.
• Must be a self-starter with ability to quickly assess situation, making logical decisions, with little to no supervision.
• Knowledge, use, and operation of construction equipment.
• Knowledge and use of Microsoft computer products or other comparable systems required.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills required.
• Ability to work overtime and travel as needed.
• Consistent attendance.

Education And Experience
