Position Purpose
The Rental Delivery Driver II (RDDII) holds a CDL-A license and operates Tractor-Trailers or Straight Trucks to deliver Large Equipment to DIY and Professional customers. The driver is knowledgeable about the basic operation of the equipment delivered and provides operational training to customers. They are also responsible for verifying that the equipment is clean and operational before and after each delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Administrative/Business Duties (10%): Use company technology to document work, obtain signatures, stay current on licensing and safety requirements, and perform other duties as assigned.
- Deploy Equipment to Store Locations (20%): Assist with deploying new equipment, including performing PDIs, delivering, and training store staff.
- Maintain Parts Inventory (10%): Keep accurate parts and fleet inventories through proper documentation.
- Operate Tractor-trailer and Straight Truck (60%): Deliver equipment, load and unload, secure loads properly, and demonstrate safe operation to customers.
Reporting and Travel
- Reports to Rental Operations Supervisor or Regional Rental Manager.
- Typically less than 10% overnight travel.
Physical and Working Conditions
- Requires physical exertion such as walking, standing, lifting, sometimes heavy or awkwardly.
- Work environment may include temperature extremes, machinery, noise, and fumes.
Minimum Qualifications
- Legally permitted to work in the U.S.
- Age 21 or older
- Class A CDL, valid DOT Medical Card
- 2 years tractor-trailer driving experience in last 5 years
- Safe driving record (clean MVR)
- Knowledge of safe load securement, local roadways, and DOT regulations
- Strong work ethic, effective communication, and ability to work with diverse teams
- Proficiency with handheld technology
- Ability to operate in outdoor conditions and adapt to unforeseen circumstances
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft Office skills, experience in equipment rental, and operating flatbed trailers
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and independent work skills
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred; minimal educational requirements
- Minimum 2 years work experience, including tractor-trailer operation
