Energy Storage Technical Manager - Transmission Planning & Interconnection Engineering

Locations: FULLY REMOTE (Anywhere in the USA) OR Houston, TX (HYBRID)

This is an opportunity to join an industry-leading renewable energy venture and IPP with strong private equity backing, focused on developing and executing dynamic utility-scale energy storage projects. The company has accumulated over 9GW+ of projects and is experiencing rapid expansion.

The Transmission, Interconnection, and Market Operations Teams support Project Development, EPC, and Origination efforts, tackling next-generation challenges in battery storage. The work environment is fast-paced and growth-oriented.

Responsibilities:

• Support transmission planning and interconnection studies to meet operational and development needs.
• Facilitate power flow, stability, and dynamic analysis using tools like PSS/E, TARA, PSCAD, PSLF, and PowerWorld.
• Engage in renewable energy and battery storage interconnection application modeling.
• Develop and support tools in Python, SQL, and MS Excel to automate study processes and analyze data flows.
• Support stakeholder engagement (utilities, RTOs, ISOs) and project management related to renewable interconnection.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical or Power Systems Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with power flow modeling and interconnection studies (PSS/E, PSLF, PSCAD, ASPEN, MUST, TARA, PowerWorld).
• Leadership in transmission and interconnection initiatives, especially using TARA.
• Exposure to economic transmission market planning and analysis tools like PROMOD, GridView, UPlan, or PLEXOS is a plus.
• Understanding of the transmission interconnection application process and electricity market policies.
• Experience working with ISOs and RTOs.
• Knowledge of utility-scale renewable energy operations, including Wind, Solar, and Energy Storage.
• Solution-oriented attitude with strong communication and presentation skills.
