Job Overview

We are seeking a passionate and talented Rendezvous and Proximity Operations Oversight Software Engineer to join our team at NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. This role involves certifying GN&C system requirements, reviewing hazard reports, analyzing trajectory data, and supporting real-time operations for space rendezvous and proximity operations.

Responsibilities

1. Certify GN&C system requirements compliance through analysis and testing reports.
2. Review hazard reports and verification evidence to certify fault tolerance safety requirements.
3. Identify and recommend solutions to GN&C/RPO performance issues.
4. Communicate compliance status to program management.
5. Conduct performance assessments on visiting vehicle GN&C data.
6. Review Monte Carlo trajectory analyses.
7. Contribute to operational products like flight rules and demonstration plans.
8. Support GN&C mission operations during ground monitoring.
9. Collaborate with engineering, safety, flight operations, and visiting vehicle teams.
10. Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 2-5 years of experience or related field.
• Experience with orbital mechanics and GN&C principles.
• Knowledge of space system algorithms and hardware/software development.
• Proficiency in Linux, Python, C/C++.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field.
• Experience with spacecraft rendezvous, proximity operations, docking systems.
• Familiarity with NASA standards, MATLAB, Simulink, Trick, JEOD.
