Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform patient care and administrative duties under supervision. You will support physicians, nurses, and other staff, ensuring safety and efficiency in daily operations.

The role requires a HS Diploma and preferred experience in healthcare, with phlebotomy experience and MA program completion being advantageous. BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire and certification within 9 months (CCMA, CMA, RMA or EMT)

Qualifications

• HS Diploma required.
• Minimum of one year experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• BLS required within 90 days of hire.
• Certification within 9 months of employment: CCMA, CMA, RMA or EMT.

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care and administrative and clerical related tasks as directed.
• Provides safe patient care environment and supports department policies.
• Demonstrates ability to assess situations and contribute to action plans.
• Follows through with tasks delegated by physicians or licensed professionals.
