Job summary

Christian Hospital and Northwest HealthCare is seeking qualified nursing support to provide direct patient care during night shifts. You will assist with ADLs, monitor vital signs, and support licensed nurses to maintain a safe patient environment.

Responsibilities include documentation, patient safety sitter duties as needed, and ensuring availability of supplies and equipment. Benefit-eligible role with weekend and holiday rotation as part of the schedule.

Qualifications

• Preferred experience as CNA, nurse assistant, EMT, or surgical technician.
• Certified Nurse Assistant license preferred.
• No prior experience required beyond licensing and training.

Responsibilities

• Implements direct patient care under nurse supervision, assisting with ADLs and vital signs.
• Collects clinical data and reports changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Documents patient care activities using proper medical terminology; may act as 1:1 safety sitter when needed.
• Ensures supplies and equipment are available to meet patient needs.
• Contributes to patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance efforts.

Northwest HealthCare, six miles west of Christian, offers 24- hour emergency care, the Sleep Disorders Center and a variety of outpatient diagnostic and imaging services.

The 8th floor is a 44 bed Renal/Telemetry unit with 24 sem8i-private rooms and 1 private room with an adjacent dialysis suite where dialysis treatments are performed under a contractual agreement. The dialysis suite can accommodate 6 patients at any given time. There are 2 negative air-flow rooms on the unit. Any semi-private room can be made private for isolation purposes or to accommodate patient request. Patients admitted to the 8th floor are acutely ill with medical problems whose primary reason for admission include but are not limited to Renal Failure, CHF, Pneumonia, COPD, Sepsis, Dehydration, Diabetes Mellitus, MI, Angioplasty, S/P Cardiac Catheterization, Cardiac Arrhythmias, Direct Admits along with Post-op surgical patients.

Role Purpose

Provides direct patient care to support the licensed professional nurses responsible for a team of patients to ensure a safe environment for patients by reducing risk of harm. Collects vital information on the patient and reports such to the nursing team which contributes to the overall assessment of each patient and any changes to a patient's condition.

Responsibilities

• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, promoting patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Administers or assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), performs vital signs, intake & output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures, urinary catheter care, phlebotomy, or point of care testing as requested.
• Collects clinical data and information on patients, and reports changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assists nurse with patient and family education. Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology. Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
• Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance. Participates in professional development.
