Job summary

Jobot is seeking a seasoned Workers Compensation Defense Attorney to join our remote team. This role focuses on defending employers in workers' compensation matters, handling civil litigation, fraud, insurance coverage issues, employment and labor law, and related topics across a busy caseload.

The ideal candidate has a JD from an accredited school, California bar admission, 3+ years in defense or related fields, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with attorneys and staff

Qualifications

• Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the California State Bar in good standing.
• Minimum of 3 years of workers' compensation defense, civil litigation, or employment law experience.
• Proven record defending clients in workers' compensation cases.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of workers' compensation cases from inception to resolution.
• Develop and implement defense strategies; conduct discovery; take/defend depositions; draft and argue motions.
• Represent clients at hearings, mediations, and trials.
• Provide legal research and analysis on workers' compensation, employment law, and insurance issues.
• Handle all aspects of civil litigation, from pleadings to court appearances.
• Investigate and defend against fraud claims.
• Advise on employment law matters including wrongful termination and ADA compliance.
• Assist in updating employee handbooks to ensure compliance.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of workers' compensation laws and regulations.
• Provide clear updates and guidance to clients.
