Job summary

AMERICAN is seeking a Sales Representative to drive growth across water, wastewater, and sewer markets within the AFC Division. The role emphasizes generating new leads, expanding existing client bases, and shaping market presence through strategic, technically informed engagement.

The ideal candidate travels frequently, builds long-term relationships with municipalities and engineering firms, and negotiates specifications for hydrants, valves, and related products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or 3 years municipal water works product experience.
• Willingness to live within the assigned territory.
• Ability to travel 60% of the time or more.
• Ability to interpret specifications for projects involving our products.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

Responsibilities

• Account management and relationship building with municipalities, engineering firms, contractors, distributors, utilities, and authorities.
• Promote AFC Division products to water and sewer markets in the assigned territory; conduct promotional calls and spec development.
• Provide expert consultation on hydrants, valves, and related products; improve sales skills through communication, negotiation, and presentation.
• Respond to inquiries, coordinate orders, expedit shipments, write specs, provide literature, quotes, and pricing info.
• Travel within the territory to build relationships and support distributors; provide post-sale field support.
