Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a VistA Transition Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the VA Health Portfolio in transitioning legacy VistA apps during EHRM deployments. This senior role analyzes, plans, coordinates, and executes transition activities, working with a distributed team and site personnel.

The SME will guide readiness, cutover, validation, and ongoing monitoring, providing expert guidance on VistA workflows, user access, and transition impacts. Periodic weekend support may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business, or a related discipline.
• 15+ years of work experience.
• 10 years may be substituted for the degree.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Ability to obtain/maintain Public Trust clearance.
• Strong written and oral communication, collaboration and problem-solving.
• Experience with geographically dispersed teams in a remote/Agile environment.
• Extensive experience with VistA menu structures, security keys, user access management, provisioning processes.
• Experience supporting VistA patch analysis and implementation.

Responsibilities

• Analyze VistA applications, menus, HL7 interfaces, and user access to assess transition impacts.
• Present technical findings to project leadership and stakeholders.
• Conduct VistA usage analysis using enterprise reports and Grafana dashboards.
• Develop playbooks, VUE reports, and transition recommendations.
• Support site readiness, cutover, deployment, and post-implementation validation activities.
• Present findings and recommendations to project teams.
• Ensure quality and completeness of deliverables and documentation.
• Suggest transition improvements based on analysis and feedback.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of VistA transition processes.
