Job summary

Jobgether, listing on behalf of a partner company, seeks an Underpayment Analyst for a fully remote role in the United States. You will analyze hospital claims, identify underpayments, and work with insurers to ensure accurate reimbursements across Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial policies.

You will participate in a structured 90-day training program, document findings, and share insights to improve workflows and recovery strategies while upholding privacy and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of healthcare billing, medical coding, and reimbursement methodologies.
• Ability to interpret Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance policies.
• Familiarity with HIPAA, CMS regulations, and state requirements.
• Experience with Epic, Cerner, or Meditech is desirable.
• Proficiency with Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Remote work experience preferred.
• Must have a dedicated home workspace and reliable internet connection.
• Location eligibility: reside in eligible U.S. states.
• Background check and eligibility to work in the United States required.

Responsibilities

• Analyze hospital claims to identify discrepancies between expected and actual reimbursements.
• Investigate underpayments and variances by examining coding errors and billing discrepancies.
• Contact insurance carriers to obtain missing information and clarify payment decisions.
• Prepare and submit documentation to support reimbursement recovery and appeals.
• Maintain records of investigations, trends, and lessons learned for audit readiness.
• Apply payer guidelines (Medicare/Medicaid/commercial) to support accurate recoveries.
• Collaborate with internal teams and insurers to resolve complex issues.
• Participate in team meetings to improve workflows and recovery strategies.
• Uphold confidentiality and healthcare regulations throughout all activities.
• Perform additional duties to support revenue integrity operations.
