Job summary

Openkrill is seeking a UI/UX Engineer to bridge product design and front-end development, delivering intuitive, accessible experiences. You will take problems from discovery through implementation, ensuring practical, polished interfaces and reusable components across devices.

You will collaborate with product leadership and engineering to maintain consistency, accessibility, and performance while validating experiences in production.

Qualifications

• Portfolio demonstrating product design decisions and shipped digital experiences.
• Experience taking a feature from a user problem through design, implementation launch, and iteration.
• Strong understanding of interaction design and visual design principles.
• Proficiency with Figma or comparable design and prototyping tools.
• Strong HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/TypeScript skills.
• Experience with a modern front-end framework such as React, Vue, or similar.
• Experience building responsive interfaces and reusable component systems.
• Working knowledge of accessibility standards and practical usability-testing methods.
• Experience working with Git, version control, code reviews, and shared documentation.
• Ability to communicate design and technical trade-offs clearly.
• Comfortable receiving feedback and iterating on work.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver within agreed scope and timelines.

Responsibilities

• Translate business goals and user needs into clear journeys and interaction designs.
• Identify usability issues and friction through user feedback and analytics.
• Create wireframes, prototypes, and production-ready designs for features.
• Design complete user experiences including loading, empty, error, and recovery states.
• Explain design decisions and evaluate alternatives based on constraints and priorities.
• Balance user experience, technical feasibility, and delivery requirements.
• Build responsive interfaces and reusable components with front-end teams.
• Translate approved designs into high-quality, production-ready code.
• Integrate interfaces with APIs in collaboration with engineers.
• Write clean, maintainable code and participate in PR reviews.
• Validate implementation against designs and acceptance criteria.
• Collaborate to maintain consistency across web and native apps.
• Ensure accessibility and product quality throughout development.
