Job summary

Booz Allen Hamilton in Washington, DC is seeking an IT Technical Writer to develop and maintain documentation for deployment diagrams, SOPs, manuals, instructions and contract deliverables for hardware and software.

You will format and edit technical publications, gather information from engineers, and ensure accurate, usable documentation. A TS/SCI clearance is required; collaboration with diverse IT teams is expected to produce clear user guides and manuals.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a technical author or editor of technical or scientific information
• Knowledge of grammar, formatting, and document configuration management
• Knowledge of basic concepts and writing technical copy for various types of documents
• Ability to prepare and maintain operations documentation, user guides and manuals, and technical publications
• Ability to gather technical information and prepare written text
• Ability to use multiple word processing and presentation tools, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Visio
• Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam
• Associate's degree and 5+ years of experience supporting IT projects and activities, Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of experience supporting IT projects and activities, or Master's degree and 1+ years of experience supporting IT projects and activities

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain documentation for processes such as deployment diagrams, standard operating procedures, manuals, instructions and contract deliverables
• Write and edit technical documentation for hardware and software to include installation, configuration, and how-to documentation
• Format technical publications from technical drawings, consultations with technical personnel and other available resources
