Job summary

Aspire General Insurance seeks a Trial Attorney to join its California legal team. The role handles personal auto insurance litigation across the state, largely remote with periodic travel to Costa Mesa; no minimum billing requirements.

You will manage cases from inception through trial, conduct depositions, draft pleadings, and coordinate with Claims. Must be CA-barred with 5+ years of litigation, and be able to work independently in a fast-paced, paperless environment.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in the State Bar of California in good standing.
• 5+ years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense or personal auto litigation.
• Experience with discovery, depositions, oral arguments, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Strong knowledge of California civil litigation procedures, insurance law, and trial advocacy.
• Ability to independently manage a high-volume litigation caseload.
• Strong written and verbal advocacy skills.
• Ability to collaborate with Claims and internal partners.

Responsibilities

• Represent insured clients through all stages of litigation.
• Manage cases from inception through resolution and trial.
• Develop strategies with Claims and protect insureds' interests.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery.
• Take and defend depositions and conduct oral arguments.
• Negotiate settlements and cost-effective resolutions.
• Provide updates and risk analyses to Claims.
• Advise Claims and other stakeholders on litigation matters.
• Maintain relationships with insured clients, Claims partners, and opposing counsel.
• Ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
• Provide guidance to paralegals and support staff.
