Job summary

GFT is seeking an OE Transmission Line Engineer to join our Power Business Group. You will lead transmission line project designs for a major utility client, acting as Owner’s Engineer and guiding project teams through complex design reviews and constructability checks.

The role emphasizes collaboration, technical discipline, and adherence to NESC, IEEE, and NEC standards. Proficiency in PLS-CADD is required, with experience in RISA-3D/STAAD and PE certification favored. Remote options may apply.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Structural Engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in transmission line design.
• Strong knowledge of NESC, IEEE, NEC.
• High proficiency in PLS-CADD.

Responsibilities

• Lead transmission line project designs as Owner’s Engineer for utility clients.
• Participate in client and project-team meetings to drive design decisions.
• Review submittals for constructability and compliance with standards.
• Review transmission line segments using PLS-CADD or similar software.
• Coordinate feasibility and routing studies and EMF calculations.
• Oversee foundations, structures, and equipment installation verification.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and technicians.
