OpenAI is seeking a Technical Threat Investigator to protect our models and ecosystem from sophisticated adversaries. You will conduct end-to-end investigations, model attacker behavior, and drive improvements across detection, enforcement, and safety pipelines.

You will build lightweight tooling, automate where it matters, and translate findings for diverse stakeholders. This remote role requires collaboration with teams in the US and UK, with in-person engagement at SF HQ and relocation

Qualifications

• Experience in threat intelligence, incident response, offensive security, or related field.
• Strong ability to investigate sophisticated threat actors and their workflows.
• Proven skill translating complex investigations into actionable findings.

Responsabilités

• Conduct deep, end-to-end investigations into threat actors interacting with OpenAI’s models and ecosystem.
• Anticipate attacker behavior, hunt for misuse patterns, and disrupt malicious activity.
• Use telemetry, OSINT, vendor data, and in-house safety systems to produce high-confidence findings.
• Translate investigative results into improvements across detection, enforcement, intel, and safety pipelines.
• Build tooling, scripts, automations, and workflows that scale investigative throughput.
• Prototype solutions in ambiguous problem spaces, including new product surfaces and attacker behaviors.
• Collaborate with Security, Safety Systems, Product Policy, and Integrity teams to operationalize findings.
• Produce clear, high-signal written outputs and recommendations for technical and executive stakeholders.
