Job summary

OpenAI, Inc. is seeking a Technical Sourcer for Research SWE to identify and engage world‑class engineers advancing machine learning. You will drive top‑of‑funnel sourcing, craft thoughtful outreach, and build long‑term relationships to support our research teams.

You will map emerging fields, pinpoint leading contributors, and partner with recruiters, hiring managers, and leaders to surface exceptional candidates and scale pipelines for niche searches.

Qualifications

• Significant experience sourcing specialized engineering/technical talent across a range of technical domains.
• Deep interest in AI and frontier research engineering challenges.
• Proven success sourcing and hiring top technical talent at premier tech companies, startups, VC, or executive search firms.
• Ability to run multiple complex searches in parallel with a high quality bar and strong stakeholder/candidate experience.
• Passion for research and mapping components of sourcing; it’s a long game.

Responsibilities

• Build highly targeted searches that deliver candidate profiles with precision.
• Craft outreach to engage passive talent and cultivate relationships with high-priority targets.
• Develop creative strategies to discover non-traditional, highly specialized, and/or up‑and‑coming talent.
• Partner with hiring managers across OpenAI to develop customized sourcing strategies and advise them on the market.
• Take a data-driven approach to candidate tracking and funnel metrics.
• Represent OpenAI and engage with communities at conferences and events.
