Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Talend Data Engineer to support large-scale data modernization, migrating legacy mainframe applications to modern data platforms. You will design, develop, and maintain ETL workflows with Talend tools, analyze mappings, and ensure data quality through validation and testing.

You will collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to meet milestones, support deployments, and ensure smooth production operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 10+ years hands-on experience with Talend Data Integration, Talend Open Studio, or Talend Data Fabric.
• Strong SQL skills with experience working with relational databases, data warehouses, and large-scale data processing environments.
• Experience developing ETL processes, data transformations, data validation, reconciliation, error handling, and performance optimization solutions.
• Strong understanding of data migration, modernization, and legacy system transformation projects.
• Experience working with flat files, APIs, batch processing frameworks, and enterprise data integration solutions.
• Proven ability to interact directly with business stakeholders, architects, and distributed delivery teams while managing end-to-end deliverables.
• Experience supporting production rollouts, change management activities, release coordination, and production support.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL workflows using Talend Data Integration, Talend Open Studio, and Talend Data Fabric to support data migration and modernization initiatives.
• Analyze source-to-target mappings, build complex transformation logic, and perform data validation, reconciliation, and performance tuning to ensure data quality and accuracy.
• Collaborate directly with business stakeholders, technical leads, architects, and cross-functional teams to gather requirements, resolve issues, and deliver project milestones.
• Support production deployments, release activities, change order implementation, batch monitoring, and issue resolution to ensure stable and successful production operations.
• Validate migrated data and ensure functional equivalency between mainframe and target systems through testing, troubleshooting, and quality assurance activities.
