Job summary

Piper Companies is seeking a Systems Security Engineer for a leading technology organization. This fully remote role requires being located in the Mountain or Pacific time zones.

You will design, implement, and maintain secure enterprise infrastructure while supporting security operations, threat detection, and incident response initiatives. Ideal candidates have strong systems administration, networking, virtualization, and cybersecurity engineering experience, with hands-on SIEM/EDR and cloud

Qualifications

• 5+ years in systems engineering, infrastructure security, or security engineering.
• Strong Windows and Linux administration, networking, and virtualization experience.
• Hands-on with SIEM, EDR, vulnerability tools, and security monitoring technologies.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security controls across enterprise systems and cloud environments.
• Engineer threat detection, monitoring, and alerting with SIEM/EDR platforms and automation.
• Support incident response by analyzing events, root causes, and remediation steps.
• Collaborate with infra, cloud, and security teams to harden architectures and reduce risk.
• Evaluate emerging security technologies and propose improvements to security posture.
