Job summary

Maximus is seeking a motivated REMOTE Systems Engineering Intern for a 10‑week, 40‑hour‑per‑week internship. Orientation will start the last week in May 2026, with mentors guiding you through real‑world engineering tasks and group discussions.

You will use Jira, Confluence, Git, Excel, and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell) to support tests, documentation, and data analysis while learning from experienced engineers.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 0–2 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• Foundational knowledge of how software, hardware, networks, and data interact.
• Familiarity with at least one programming or scripting language (Python preferred).
• Experience with Excel/Sheets, Git (basic), and documenting technical information.
• Ability to follow test procedures, analyze results, and identify anomalies.
• Clear written and verbal communication; able to collaborate in teams.

Responsibilities

• Work on IT assignments of moderate difficulty under a mentor to build skills.
• Escalate issues to management as needed.
• Participate in group discussions to solve problems of moderate scope.
• Attend meetings to gain process knowledge and guidance on projects.
• Read, understand, and perform assignments within guidelines.
• Prepare standard reports and presentation materials.
• Assist with system documentation (requirements, architecture diagrams, interfaces).
• Support system integration and testing by executing test cases and documenting results.
• Analyze system performance, logs, and data to identify issues or trends.
• Use Jira, Confluence, Git, and Excel to track work and artifacts.
• Write basic scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell) to automate tests or data collection.
• Collaborate with engineers in design reviews, stand-ups, and troubleshooting.
