Job summary

Echo Power Engineering, Llc is seeking a Telecommunications Engineer to support power system communications and SCADA infrastructure in substations and utility facilities. This is a primarily remote role with field requirements and residency in the Middle Tennessee region to access sites as needed.

You will own the implementation, testing, troubleshooting, and integration of telecom systems, including fiber optic networks, Ethernet switches, GPS time synchronization, and RTUs/DPUs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Telecommunications Engineering.
• Minimum 5+ years in telecommunications engineering within power/utility environments.
• Strong knowledge of SCADA communications and power system operations.
• Experience with fiber optic systems, Ethernet switches, and serial interfaces.
• Hands-on field troubleshooting in substations and remote facilities.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and test telecommunications systems supporting power infrastructure
• Support fiber optic networks and Ethernet switches
• Configure and integrate SCADA RTUs and DPUs
• Deploy and troubleshoot networking equipment such as media converters and Ethernet radios
• Configure GPS IRIG-B time synchronization for SCADA and protection relays
• Perform system diagnostics and troubleshoot telecommunications and control system issues
• Collaborate with power system engineers to ensure integration with protection and control systems
• Maintain documentation including test plans, configurations, and procedures
