Job summary

Bowman is seeking a Substations CAD Technician III to join our team remotely in the United States. This senior role provides advanced drafting, design support, and technical guidance for substation projects, ensuring compliance with company standards and delivering constructible drawings.

You will collaborate with engineers to translate concepts into accurate drawings, maintain CAD libraries, and support field changes while driving quality and efficiency across multiple projects.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Typically 5–8 years of progressive CAD/drafting experience with significant substation/utility exposure.
• Expert proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or equivalent CAD platforms.
• Working knowledge of substation equipment, layouts, grounding, and construction methods.
• Experience with utility drafting standards and document control systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Produce and maintain detailed substation drawings for new construction, expansions, and retrofit projects.
• Ensure drawing packages comply with drafting standards, engineering requirements, and regulatory guidelines.
• Coordinate drawing deliverables with engineering, protection & control, civil/structural, and construction teams.
• Support project schedules by managing multiple deliverables and prioritizing work.
• Participate in design reviews and incorporate comments accurately and efficiently.
• Maintain drawing revisions, document control, and version tracking within designated systems.
