Job summary

Working Families Party is seeking a Director of Coalition Alignment & Governance Strategy to align statewide governance structures with regional leadership and elected champions. This senior role oversees the bridge between the State Steering Committee, regional committees, and partners to ensure cohesive statewide action.

The ideal candidate will build co-governance, facilitate complex relationships, and drive execution on statewide priorities while nurturing a strong political infrastructure

Qualifications

• At least 8 years of experience serving as an advisor, strategist, or senior leader within political, labor, advocacy, or democratic organizations.
• Deep experience managing coalitions, steering committees, boards, elected leaders, or other governing bodies.
• Proven experience managing staff; developing talent; leading performance management.
• Co-governance and political strategy experience; working with elected officials, unions, and community organizations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication to translate priorities into guidance and systems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the State Director and committees to develop statewide political and governing strategies.
• Staff the California State Steering Committee including agenda development, meeting facilitation, follow-up, and leadership development.
• Manage regional steering committees and provide strategic governance support.
• Staff the CA WFP Officers and provide governance and organizational development guidance.
• Ensure alignment between statewide priorities and regional committee strategies, programs, and decision-making processes.
• Build systems for improved communication, coordination, accountability, and collaboration across regional and statewide leadership.
• Support development of democratic governance structures to strengthen participation and decision-making.
• Coordinate annual dues collections from coalition members.
• Coordinate communication and strategic alignment between State Steering Committee members, Regional Committees, staff, and partners.
