Job summary

Mercor is seeking STEM researchers at MSc/PhD level to contribute remotely on a part-time basis (10–20 hours/week). You must own a MacBook and be proficient with Python/Jupyter, MATLAB, R, and LaTeX. The role involves literature reviews, data analysis, and creating training data for AI models.

Immediate start preferred. This contract position offers flexible hours and remote work with a strong emphasis on independent research and clear technical writing. Compensation is $50–$60 per hour.

Qualifications

• Pursuing or completed MSc/PhD in a STEM field (e.g., physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, computer science, engineering).
• Must own a MacBook or Mac with M-series/Intel and macOS 15 or higher.
• Hands-on research with Python/Jupyter, MATLAB, R, LaTeX, reference managers or lab/data analysis software.
• Strong online research skills and ability to summarize information from diverse sources.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete and narrate literature reviews, data analysis, modeling, and technical writing on your Mac.
• Create high-quality training data for advanced AI models.
• Conduct research workflows independently to benchmark and improve cutting-edge AI models.
• Work with Python/Jupyter, MATLAB, R, LaTeX, and other research tools.
• Collaborate asynchronously and maintain flexible hours to meet deadlines.
