Velocity Tech partners with a Health Tech company in the US to recruit a Staff Data Engineer for a fully remote role. You will design scalable data architectures on GCP and own end-to-end data pipelines.

In this senior role, you will lead ETL/ELT development, optimize BigQuery data warehouses, and establish governance and quality practices. Candidates should have 8+ years in data engineering with staff or senior-level experience and strong Python/SQL skills.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in data engineering or related field at Staff or Senior level.
• Strong experience with GCP services including BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, Composer.
• Expertise in Python and SQL for data processing and pipeline development.
• Experience building distributed data systems and handling large-scale datasets.
• Solid understanding of data modelling techniques (e.g. dimensional modelling).
• Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow / Cloud Composer).
• Strong understanding of streaming and batch data processing.

Responsibilities

• Design and own scalable, production-grade data architectures on GCP.
• Lead the development of robust ETL/ELT pipelines using modern data stack tools.
• Build and optimise data warehouses and lakehouse architectures (e.g. BigQuery).
• Establish best practices in data modelling, governance, and data quality.
