Job summary

Branch is seeking a Staff Cloud Operations Engineer to join our Cloud Ops team in a remote-first setting across the United States. You will help build scalable, secure cloud infrastructure in GCP, improve incident response, and automate toil to support a fast-paced fintech environment.

You will collaborate across technical and non-technical teams, manage outages, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive observability with modern tooling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of cloud infrastructure engineering experience (preferably GCP).
• Observability: monitoring, logging, and tracing.
• Proficient in Python, Bash, Java, or Go.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Collaborates with security teams and applies security-informed judgments.
• Comfort with AI tools to accelerate work.
• Willingness to work in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate cross-functional staff; build workflow automation (crons, n8n, Airflow).
• Manage outage incidents, compliance, sprints, metrics reporting, and documentation.
• Maintain incident response processes and tooling with monitoring.
• Ensure cloud infrastructure compliance with security standards.
• Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure in GCP.
• Ensure scalability, security, and high availability.
• Build automation to reduce toil and enable self-healing.
• Troubleshoot issues and support observability tools.
