Senior Controller
Overview: The Senior Controller is a leadership position accountable for managing an assigned team while also being a strong individual contributor; providing exceptional outsourced controllership, advisory services, and strategic direction to various clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and manage an accounting team for assigned clients, providing coaching, timely feedback, and performance reviews.
- Develop an understanding of each client’s unique business and accounting needs; provide strategic leadership with scalable accounting operations, ensuring compliance with internal control systems.
- Manage month‑end closing and issuance of financial reports to all clients every month.
- Partner with client leadership on operational and strategic decisions, collaborating on accounting requests, prioritization, and delegation.
- Financial Planning and Budgeting:
- Develop client annual budgets, maintain cash forecasting tools, and support long‑term planning.
- Monitor budget performance, providing insights for adjustments.
- Develop and review financial and operating metrics via dashboards, including KPIs.
- Identify and report significant variances.
- Strategic Financial Analysis:
- Analyze financial and operational data to provide real‑time, actionable recommendations.
- Identify trends, risks, and growth opportunities.
- Provide insights to senior leadership to drive strategic decision‑making.
- Execute client conference calls regularly to review strategy and operational impacts.
- Assist in gathering tax‑related information for external tax return preparation.
- Coordinate information for external audits.
- Comply with local, state, and federal reporting requirements.
- Review and approve monthly/quarterly tax filings prepared by accounting specialists.
- Complete special projects as requested by clients.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- 10+ years of supervisory experience in outsourced accounting, with expertise in businesses ranging from $5M to $25M.
- Adaptive leadership style and passion for mentoring staff.
- Proven ability to manage accounting functions for SMEs.
- Comfortable with change and swift priority adjustments.
- Strong analytical focus; solves complex problems creatively.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational skills, capable of multi‑tasking.
- Experience with NetSuite and other accounting software; eager to learn new technologies.
- Thrives in fast‑paced environments with a sense of urgency.
- Quick decision‑making based on knowledge and experience.
- Operates within established standards and guidelines.

- High computer literacy, especially Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel).

Minimum Education & Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA license, CMA, or MBA preferred.
