Job summary

The North Carolina Department of Commerce seeks a Community Development Planner II to lead economic development planning for rural areas in the Southeast region. This home-based role involves coordinating technical assistance, managing projects, and guiding grants and funding opportunities with local governments.

You will work independently under supervision, travel as needed, and support regional planners to improve investment, jobs, and community growth in designated NC communities.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in planning or MPA with planning courses.
• Four years of planning experience with at least one year in a lead/supervisory role.
• Equivalent education/experience may qualify.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise development and implementation of economic development plans.
• Provide technical assistance and capacity building to rural communities.
• Coordinate interagency planning efforts and grants guidance.
• Travel as required to the Southeast region and work remotely from home
