Job summary

The Voleon Group in Berkeley seeks a Software Engineer for Strategy Research Analytics to design and evolve analytics infrastructure for research reporting and analysis across strategies. You will own recurring analytics pipelines and foundational datasets while guiding transition to a standardized, observable analytics platform.

Collaborate with Data Scientists and Data Infrastructure teams to ensure reliable, queryable datasets, impact research velocity, and improve reproducibility across

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 3+ years building and operating analytics or data infra systems.
• Strong Python and SQL proficiency.
• Experience with distributed query engines and large-scale compute.
• Ownership of large-scale data infrastructure.
• Strong data modeling, including partitioning and reproducibility.
• Expertise in metadata management and data governance.

Responsibilities

• Own recurring analytics pipelines and ensure reliability (monitoring & alerting).
• Lead architectural evolution of the analytics platform and DAG consolidation.
• Drive cross-team alignment for consistent analytics outputs.
• Build and maintain base analytics tables and metrics with strong schema discipline.
• Define and implement reliability standards (SLOs, observability, runbooks).
• Improve data discoverability via documentation and data contracts.
