Job summary

Systems & Software, a division of Harris, seeks a Software Engineer for a small Agile Development team. The role focuses on feature implementation, bug fixes, and supporting complex systems with access to advanced tools and AI coding aids.

Remote position open to candidates in the US and Canada, with occasional travel to Vermont/Customer Site. Requires passport and ability to travel internationally; 60K-65K salary range offered.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Computer Science or Computer Information Systems or equivalent work experience.
• Proven experience with Oracle and PL/SQL or MS SQL Server and Transact-SQL.
• Experience with Web Services (REST, SOAP).
• Hands-on experience writing automated tests with frameworks such as JUnit, Mockito, Jasmine/Karma, Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium.
• Comfort working with AI coding assistants and sound judgment reviewing their output.
• Ability to design and develop well-structured application software using OO and SOA principles.
• Strong work ethic, initiative, and energy for fast-paced environments.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and clear communication with internal and external resources.

Responsibilities

• Implement product designs by programming in multiple languages and technologies.
• Produce accurate effort estimates and track progress with the Client Development Manager.
• Write and maintain automated tests as part of feature delivery.
• Expand automated test coverage to reduce manual regression.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and build automation.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate tasks and knowledge sharing.
• Collaborate with R&D on development processes and tools.
• Work with QA to ensure high-quality standards.
• Manage code reviews and provide feedback on designs.
