Job summary

Ameritas is seeking a Software Developer Intern - Packaged Systems to support the Individual, AIC/AAS, and Retirement business efforts. This role offers exposure to AWS cloud with Python and AI-assisted coding.

This remote internship (Nebraska or Ohio) begins May 2027 and lasts 12+ months, with part-time during the school year and full-time in the summer, ranging from 15-20 to 30-40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in a college degree program at least half-time for the duration of the internship studying computer science, information systems or related field.
• Ability to commit to a 12-month or longer internship, working full-time in the summer and part-time during the school year.
• Full-time hours: 30-40 hours per week.
• Part-time hours: 15-20 hours per week.
• Understanding of coding and basic principles of application development required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
• Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop: solutions utilizing custom packaged insurance software
• Work with automation tools while working with a range of developers and technologies (including GitHub).
• Gain experience with a cross section of IT resources to enhance existing, or develop new applications.
• Work with SQL and relational databases.
