Job summary

Upstart is seeking a Software Engineer on the Site Reliability Engineering team to build and operate systems that improve reliability, resiliency, and observability in Upstart’s production environment.

You’ll work across observability platforms, tooling, incident response systems, and automation, delivering well-scoped projects while using production data to improve systems across engineering. Embrace AI throughout the lifecycle to enhance efficiency and reliability.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software/SRE experience
• Strong programming skills in Python/Go/JS/TS
• Experience designing, building, testing, and operating production software
• Experience with cloud, distributed systems, observability, or production operations
• Experience on-call or incident response for production systems
• Ability to deliver well-scoped engineering projects and collaborate
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools across the lifecycle

Responsibilities

• Build and improve tooling, services, and automation for reliability
• Develop shared observability capabilities for metrics, logs, traces, health, and impact
• Improve incident response and operational readiness with better tooling
• Build resiliency capabilities to identify failure modes and reduce risk
• Identify recurring toil and replace with durable software and automation
• Use AI as part of development and operational problem solving
