Remote Interpreter Opportunity

Working from your home office, you'll serve as the vital communication link between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and their teachers and peers. This position focuses primarily on high school academic settings where clear, accurate interpretation is essential for student success.

Position Details

• 32.5-35 hours weekly schedule
• Supporting 10th-12th grade students in inclusive classrooms
• Interpreting for a diverse range of academic subjects
• Virtual presence in multiple classes throughout the school day
• Working collaboratively with onsite educational team
• Following standard school hours (approximately 8:25 AM - 2:30 PM)

Essential Functions

• Facilitate communication between deaf/hard-of-hearing students and hearing teachers/peers
• Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and activities using ASL
• Maintain appropriate interpretation speed and clarity for academic content
• Prepare for classes by reviewing vocabulary and content in advance
• Adapt interpreting style to match student's language level and preferences
• Maintain confidentiality of all student information
• Communicate effectively with teachers about interpreting needs
• Document services in accordance with educational requirements

Qualification Requirements

• Minimum 3.5 EIPA score required
• Master's degree
• Two years of educational interpreting experience
• Strong ASL fluency and English proficiency
• Knowledge of educational terminology
• Familiarity with deaf culture and educational best practices
• Reliable computer with webcam and high-speed internet
• Quiet, professional workspace for remote interpreting
