Description
The Sign Design Draftsperson will produce fabrication drawings for exterior signage (freestanding, wall-mounted, illuminated, non-illuminated) and interior signage (including dimensional logos/letters, ADA signage, POP displays, tradeshow/exhibit spaces) from design intent drawings.
Requirements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Based on customer-supplied content and message schedules, create layouts, proofs, and production files.
- Generate and revise drawings and documentation related to signs as required.
- Produce production-ready art, vinyl, and CAD router files for shop releases.
- Coordinate with all aspects of the sign-making process to meet deadlines and drive production.
Qualifications
- Experience with Omega Composer, FlexiSign, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or comparable industry programs.
- Understanding of electrical systems for lighting and powering illuminated, programmable, or LED signs.
- Knowledge of structural design and the mechanics of assembling and installing signage.
- Ability to create drawings from sketches, measurements, marked-up prints, and technical surveys.
- Proficiency in importing and exporting file types across various graphics and production programs.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling multiple projects.
- Strong organizational, management, and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Experience with AutoCAD is a plus.
- Knowledge of signage and electrical permitting requirements, especially in Maryland, is helpful.
- Experience with ADA standards is a plus.
- Ability to work independently with or without supervision.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
- 3-5 years of signage or fabrication/constructional engineering experience required.
Computer Skills
- Proficiency with computers, data entry, internet searches, Microsoft Office, and email applications.
- Experience with Omega Composer, FlexiSign, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, or comparable programs.
- ERP system experience is a plus.
Other Qualifications
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Effective written communication skills for customer and coworker interactions.
- Vision abilities include seeing clearly at 20 inches or less, distinguishing colors, and adjusting focus.
- Basic mathematical skills such as reading a ruler and calculating costs.
