Job summary

COLSA Corporation is seeking a Senior UX/UI Designer to support NASA NCAPS, ACPO, and the DIISC team. This fully remote role will build the design practice from the ground up, including user research, personas, a reusable design system, and production-ready designs for data-heavy analytics applications.

As the founding UX/UI design lead, you will work with engineers, data scientists, analysts, and program staff to turn complex test data, forecasts, financials, and operational data into usable

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in design, HCI, or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of related experience.
• Proven experience designing data-heavy analytics software (dashboards, tables, charts).
• Proficiency in Figma.
• Experience creating a design system from scratch.
• Experience defining personas and conducting user research.
• US Citizenship; able to undergo NASA background check.

Responsibilities

• Create the team’s design system from scratch with components, patterns, standards, and documentation, serving as the UI source of truth.
• Define user personas from the ground up; plan and conduct user research and translate findings into actionable design decisions.
• Produce high-fidelity prototypes and production-ready designs for data-heavy analytics apps (dashboards, tables, charts, visualizations).
• Make complex data clear by selecting appropriate representations for data and audience.
• Produce user flows, wireframes, and UX deliverables; present and defend design decisions to stakeholders.
• Establish design processes, standards, tooling, and set expectations for design quality across applications.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, analysts, and program staff to translate requirements into usable software.
