Job summary

Pierce County is seeking a Senior Utility Planner to lead long-range planning initiatives, craft agreements, and support legislative updates within the Planning and Public Works team. The role emphasizes coordinating with staff, jurisdictions, and stakeholders to ensure sustainable utility planning.

You will work alongside engineers, planners, and community leaders to develop comprehensive sewer planning strategies, assess impacts, and identify efficiencies for improved public service in Pierce

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Planning or related field.
• At least three years of related planning experience.
• Two or more years of utility planning experience; sewer/water preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as subject matter expert for assigned planning projects and programs.
• Interpret local, state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines as they relate to assigned responsibilities and stay abreast of legislative changes.
• Lead the preparation and presentation of reports to County Officials, departments, external entities, and the general public.
• Develop and prepare planning documents including drafting code amendments, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Represent the Department at internal and external meetings.
• Perform research, prepare special studies, write reports, and analyze data for planning functions.
• Work with cross-departmental teams on developing various plans.
• Prepare, submit and obtain grants.
