Job summary

Northern Base is seeking an experienced Splunk Admin to join our Columbus-area team with remote options. The role focuses on Splunk data ingestion, parsing, indexing, and forwarding across multi-team environments, including Cribl Stream, Splunk Enterprise/Cloud, and observability tooling.

You will drive reliability, incident management, and governance while mentoring junior engineers. Ideal candidates bring 8+ years IT experience and a Splunk Power User Certification, with strong scripting

Qualifications

• 8+ years of IT experience with senior involvement in IT operations.
• 5+ years in Splunk administration and data ingestion workflows.
• Experience with enterprise observability, logging and monitoring platforms.
• Hands-on Splunk and Cribl ingestion workflows, monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Proficiency with Splunk Enterprise and/or Splunk Cloud.
• Hands-on data onboarding, parsing, routing, indexing and forwarding.
• Cribl Stream administration, pipeline execution and monitoring.
• Strong SPL and RegEx skills.
• Programming/scripting: Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Knowledge of Networking, Linux/Windows, AWS/Azure/GCP, and security fundamentals.
• Experience supporting production environments and incident handling.
• Willingness to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
• Splunk Power User Certification is mandatory.
• Experience mentoring junior engineers and leading data ingestion initiatives.
• Experience with logging, telemetry and data governance standards.
• Automation development for ingestion, monitoring and operations.
• Incident management and root cause analysis experience.
• Integrating ingestion platforms with observability tools and data lakes.
• Ability to lead technical discussions with clients and stakeholders.
