Job summary

Milliman IntelliScript, a Life Sciences software unit within Milliman, is hiring a Software Engineer III to design and deliver AI-enhanced health data solutions. You’ll work on Contxt, shaping early product directions and ensuring quality across AWS-based architectures.

You will contribute to EHR data integration, FHIR/HL7 interfaces, and medical claims data while mentoring peers and advancing modern cloud-native practices. Remote-friendly with travel to Brookfield, WI as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience
• Strong experience with C# (.NET 8), React, and SQL
• Experience developing cloud-native applications in AWS
• Understanding of DevOps best practices using GitHub and Terraform
• Familiarity with Agile delivery practices, such as Scrum
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle
• Strong technical design, problem-solving, and debugging skills
• Experience with domain-driven design
• Experience with microservices architecture
• Experience with event-driven architecture
• Experience writing testable code, including unit, integration, and related automated tests
• Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools in a corporate environment
• Repeatable AI-assisted delivery with prompting, human review checkpoints, automated tests, and traceability
• Sound judgment about AI value and boundaries
• Strong knowledge of EHR data, FHIR/HL7 interoperability

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain and improve software and other technical solutions
• Redesigning monolithic legacy products in AWS
• Champion AWS best practices
• Mentor team members on software engineering best practices
• Focus on overall product quality
• Develop and maintain unit and integration tests
• Self-manage workload given priorities
• Help the team achieve sprint goals through collaboration
• Participate in code reviews to promote quality
• Support code deployments
• Use generative AI across refinement, planning, implementation, test generation, and code review
• Write specifications and prompts to guide AI-generated work
• Hold gates: review AI-generated code and ensure testing, security, and observability
