Job summary

Shipium is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to own core platform services and microservices powering our shipping intelligence platform. You will design, implement, and operate microservices at high throughput, with end-to-end ownership from design through production.

You will build cloud-native infrastructure on AWS using Docker/Kubernetes, design robust data pipelines, and define APIs and integrations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and 5+ years of software development experience.
• 2+ years building production services, APIs, or microservices in cloud-native environments with operational ownership.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and modern deployment patterns.
• AI development tools such as Claude Code and AI-assisted testing in daily workflow.
• Track record of delivering complete, on-time work with early risk signaling.
• Experience mentoring engineers and providing structured feedback within a team.
• Nice to have: logistics, shipping, or B2B SaaS supply chain software; RFCs/design proposals adopted by a team.

Responsibilities

• Design and build platform services and microservices in Java, Spring, React, or TypeScript.
• Build cloud-native infrastructure on AWS using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Design and optimize real-time and batch data pipelines (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis).
• Define APIs and integrations; implement RESTful APIs and event-driven patterns.
• Develop with AI-assisted tools to accelerate development and testing.
• Own production reliability from monitoring through incident resolution.
• Mentor engineers and contribute RFCs and design proposals.
